Mary Davis
Mary has always enjoyed all forms of creativity. Although first and foremost a painter, she has a practical interest in printmaking, textiles, sculpture and ceramics.
Colour, form and the exploration of texture are essential elements in her work. She paints mainly with oil or acrylics on canvas, sometimes incorporating mixed media but is also very fond of the drawing media – pastels, pencil, charcoal etc.
She has a great love of travel and over the years has created a number of sketchbooks from countries visited, near and far. These are great resources for her paintings.
Apart from her artwork she has a love of music and plays the piano accordion and saxophone, having played many other instruments in the past. She has had a career in teaching and as a mature student studied at the Arts Institute, Bournemouth and at the Winchester School of Art.
