Patterns in the landscape, both natural and man-made, provide the inspiration for Jane’s researches into how to make an old medium – bobbin lace – responsive to new challenges. The author of two books – the second, Contemporary Lace for You, published in 2011 – Jane has always been grateful to Bournemouth Arts Club’s understanding and generous community of artists for providing a focal point where she can widen her experience and gauge how to integrate lace with other artwork.
Jane encourages lacemakers around the world to reach for new horizons – teaching and exhibiting take her across Europe, to America and to Australia. Each new venue adds to her understanding of how lace artists may draw on local resources to enrich their work.
