Barbara Davis
Barbara’s interest lies in responding to the energy and atmosphere of her chosen subject which she explores in an abstract way using a variety of mediums. Her choice of subject is based on something which catches her eye or engages her.
Paintings are made in the studio after much consideration and with reference to many sketchbooks containing memories and drawings of things that have captured her imagination, distilling the drawn, seen, remembered image to a more abstract form to give impact. Materials are acrylic, collage, graphite and oil pastel, scraped into and applied using brushes and any mark making object to hand, on canvas or paper.
Barbara’s work is intuitive. The foundation is in the balance of shape and line with colour, texture and atmosphere.
