Young Joo Shin

Young Joo was born in Seoul, the capital of South Korea and was influenced early in her life by the mountainous landscapes surrounding her home city. This led to Young Joo developing a career as an artist, which started with her graduating in 2001 from Dong Duk Women’s University in Seoul, with an MA in Fine Art.

 Strongly inspired by the European impressionism movement, she had travelled to Europe in 2000, and realised why the scenery, light, tones and landscapes in Europe had made such an impact on artists such as Monet and Van Gogh. Young Joo moved to England permanently in 2003. Living firstly on the South Coast and now in the New Forest, her work represents her interpretation of local views and scenes, in a modern abstract style, using mainly acrylic on canvas
