Daphne Speight Having had a love of drawing since childhood, Daphne commenced her study of art part-time in 1980 as a mature student and, after obtaining an A-level Certificate in painting and art history went on to gain further certificates in drawing and colour theory. From 1997-1999 she studied part-time at the Arts Institute, Bournemouth, obtaining the College Diploma in Fine Art. Daphne works in most media and enjoys a variety of subject matter, but is particularly interested in drawing and painting the human figure, both in portraiture and more complex works depicting the day-to-day activities of ordinary people. Colour and texture are important elements in all her work. |

She has contributed to group and open exhibitions at a variety of venues in the South including:- The Century Gallery, Datchet; Mountbatten Gallery, Portsmouth; The Arts Institute, Bournemouth; Atrium Gallery, Bournemouth University; Devizes Museum; Salisbury Library Gallery; The Russell-Cotes Museum & Art Gallery, Bournemouth; Seldown Gallery, Poole Arts Centre; Dorset County Museum, Dorchester; The Red House Museum, Christchurch; Whitestones Gallery, Portland. |
