Alison Bell

Alison’s work is essentially driven by her interest in the environment, her concerns focussing on connectivity with the natural world and issues surrounding art, beauty and the nature of the contemporary sublime. She acknowledges but aims to look beyond the history of the conventional and comfortable expectations of the genre of landscape and the pastoral.

Alison uses drawing as both object and process to explore the nature of knowing something - the conscious and the intuitive, noticing moments and claiming them.  She is interested in cognitive perception and cultural influences and believes that both thinking and feeling are still important in the making and viewing of an artwork.
